In the course of the one hundred years of pontifical approval of the Teresian Association and seventy years of the presence of the charism in the Dominican Republic, the life and mission that its members contribute are being celebrated in this country.
One of the members of the Teresian Association of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Angela Margarita Matos Imbert, has been especially recognized this year for her professional practice in medicine and for her testimony of life.
Margarita Matos is a Pediatrician-Endocrinologist and Professor of Higher Education in this country. During this year 2024 she has received four important awards from the specialised Medical Societies to which she belongs.
The highest award to be highlighted in this year 2024 was given to her on July 16 in the capital, Santo Domingo, by the Dominican Society of Pediatrics (SDP) when she was honored as Emeritus Pediatrician ‘Dr. Teófilo Gautier’, special recognition given to pediatricians who stand out nationally for their contributions to the development of the Dominican Society of Pediatrics, for their clinical, humanistic and academic practice and their contributions in the area of research.
The Dominican Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition SODENN, de ámbito nacional, le dedicó su Jornada Nacional en octubre 2024, celebrada en Santiago de Los Caballeros, reconociendo “su entrega y dedicación profesional como médico endocrinóloga pediátrica y maestra de varias generaciones”.
LThe Dominican Society of Endocrinologists of the North has recognised her as ‘Woman of the Year 2024’ on the occasion of International Women's Day: ‘for her altruistic humanism, impeccable work trajectory, her love for teaching and her legacy of service to the region and the country’.
In August 2024, the Dominican Society of Endocrinologists of the North reiterates its recognition of her as an Honorary Member, ‘for her outstanding merits and contributions as a physician and researcher in the field of Endocrinology. Her dedication and commitment have improved the quality of life of many patients and have inspired colleagues and students to follow in her footsteps in the pursuit of medical excellence’.
In each of these tributes and celebrations Margarita was accompanied by members of the TA family, her relatives, colleagues and friends who were pleased to witness such well-deserved recognition. The press and various media of the country echoed these acts.
PFor her outstanding merits and contributions as a medical researcher in the field of Endocrinology, her dedication and commitment to the quality of life that has inspired new colleagues and students to follow in her footsteps in the pursuit of medical excellence, the Teresian Association in the Dominican Republic gives thanks to God and shares this testimony. With these achievements we continue to celebrate the good idea of our Work in the centenary of its approval.
