We have received news from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil telling us about a Mass that was held in the chapel consecrated to Our Lady Aparecida on 22 June on the occasion of the one hundredth anniversary of the pontifical approval of the Teresian Association.

There was a full moon on Saturday 22 June. From the top of Corcovado, at the foot of Christ the Redeemer, in the chapel dedicated to Our Lady Aparecida, the Teresian Association and the NGO Novamerica, represented by members of their teams, came together. There were teachers, staff, students, members of the Teresian Association of the Primary Association and ACIT Brazil Association, and friends. They were celebrating one hundred years of pontifical approval of the Teresian Association.
It was a special occasion to give thanks for Pedro Poveda’s ‘good idea’ that is present in Brazil and in the “wonderful city”, as Rio de Janeiro is known. It was a great opportunity to open our hearts and be strengthened individually and as a community through the Eucharist. We felt encouraged to carry on fulfilling the mission of the Teresian Association with passion and courage so that this city, country and world may be less unequal and more caring and empathetic with more solidarity, justice, love and democracy.
As Teresian Association members and friends, we experienced the beauty of nature as it celebrated with us our “work of God”.
The chaplain of the TA school, Rev. Paulo de Oliveira Reis, celebrated the Mass which was simple and powerful. It was a time of sharing and thanksgiving. From the top of the Corcovado -- which means “heart where I am going” -- we contemplated the city of Rio de Janeiro with its lights, the sea and the lagoon. All of us felt our hearts singing out as if with one voice: “Life is beautiful, it is beautiful, it is beautiful!”
We came down from the mountain praising God and thanking creation. In our littleness we could contemplate such greatness. We feel God’s presence among us in different ways, especially in the life that we share in the service of God, so that all “may have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Peregrinação e Missa do Centenário no Cristo do Corcovado
Sábado, 22 de junho, noite de lua cheia. Do alto do Corcovado, aos pés do Cristo Redentor, na Capela consagrada à Nossa Senhora Aparecida o Colégio Teresiano e a ONG Novamerica, representados por membros de suas equipes, professores, funcionários, alunos, membros da Instituição Teresiana da Associação Primária e Associação ACIT Brasil e amigos estiveram presentes para celebrar os cem anos da aprovação pontifícia da Instituição Teresiana.
Um momento especial de ação de graças pela ideia boa de Pedro Poveda e a sua presença no Brasil e na “cidade maravilhosa” como é conhecida Rio de Janeiro. Um momento de dilatar o coração e nos fortalecer individual e comunitariamente com a força da Eucaristia para continuar vivenciando a missão da Instituição Teresiana com paixão e coragem para construir uma cidade, um país e um mundo menos desigual, mais fraterno, empático, solidário, com mais justiça, amorosidade e democracia.
Experimentamos, enquanto povo Instituição Teresiana a beleza da natureza, que veio celebrar conosco esta “Obra de Deus, Obra boa”.
O Capelão do Colégio, Padre Paulo de Oliveira Reis, celebrou uma bela e singela eucaristia.
Foi um momento de partilha e agradecimento. Do alto do Corcovado que significa “coração para onde vou”, contemplamos a Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, suas luzes, mar e lagoa e em uma só voz e coração gritamos dentro de nós mesmos que “a vida é bonita, é bonita e é bonita!”
Descemos da montanha louvando a Deus e agradecendo pela criação, por poder contemplar semelhante grandeza desde nossa pequenez e por sua presença entre nós que se manifesta através de diferentes formas, mas especialmente na partilha da vida que se coloca ao serviço do Reino de Deus para que todos “tenham vida, e a tenham em abundância” (João 10,10).
