Young people from Argentina and Uruguay came together in Buenos Aires to share the charism of the Association. It was an opportunity to learn more about St Pedro Poveda in this centenary year of the pontifical approval of the Association that he founded.
In mid-June, during a cold winter weekend, but in a warm and friendly atmosphere, a meeting of youth from two neighbouring countries was held in the Argentinian city of Buenos Aires. This was a long-awaited gathering of young people from Argentina and Uruguay!
Friday 14 and Sunday 16 June were planned as an opportunity for young people committed to the TA in these countries to follow a course of TA studies and personal development. They came together to share life and vocation, and to allow themselves to be challenged by the Letter of the Year and the lines of mission of the 19th General Assembly.
Together with other young people
They were joined by others on Saturday 15 at the Pedro Poveda Institute. Being conscious of the lines of action ‘Weaving networks’ and ‘Accompanying young people’, they invited a group of young university students, alumni, residents, animators and friends close to the TA in Argentina and the university residence in Uruguay. They spent the day together reflecting on the theme ‘Your life... a mission’.
The meeting began with a series of exercises that encouraged the young people to think about their own stories, their challenges, their interests and their dreams. They started with a presentation that asked them to answer the questions: Where do I come from, what do I dream of, what makes me tick?
A unique passport
During the day they looked at different stages in the life and mission of Pedro Poveda in Linares, Jaen, Guadix, Covadonga and Madrid, and how his life, the Gospel and the charism of the Association can illuminate and animate their lives today.
The ‘Povedan Passport’ took them from one period to another in Poveda’s life, in the TA charism and in their own lives. There was a joyful atmosphere and deep sharing that made them feel renewed in their paths and moved them to express gratitude at the end of the day with a serene time of prayer.
The strength of vocation, unity and love that the charism gives us were present during the meeting. This encouraged the participants to continue dreaming and being thankful for all that this centenary means to the TA.
