Young people joining TA groups in Peru celebrate an ‘open’ Easter Triduum with the theme "From a distance, together in faith”. They share their experience in a short letter.

Dear Teresian Association,

collage pascua jovenHere in Peru, the Teresian Association Youth Movement had the idea of celebrating the Easter Triduum with other young people, so we had an open virtual “Pascua” on the theme "From a distance, together in faith”. Our intention was to encourage and facilitate young people who are interested in having a personal and community experience of Holy Week. We wanted to help them to be able to recognise Jesus incarnate in today’s world when all are experiencing the difficulties of living under a pandemic.

The registration fee from participants and donations from members of the Teresian Association, friends and collaborators were used to show solidarity with two projects in great need in poorer areas of Lima where the Association is present through the Guadix Social Project and the EDIW Programme. All the funds raised are allocated to these projects.

Attending this Easter Triduum there were 18 young people from 13 to 23 years old and four members of the Teresian Association who accompanied the meeting. We were divided into two communities that were called “Bread” and “Wine”.Logo Pacua Juvenil IT Perú

We came together for 2 to 3 hours each day. We also asked all the participants to commit themselves to joining the Holy Week services organised by the Archdiocese of Lima.

On Easter Sunday we were very happy to realise that the experience of Holy Week had allowed us to recognise the Risen Jesus alive among us. We felt that our faith had been rekindled, and that the love of Jesus for each one of us encourages us to share with others and to live as his witnesses.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! From the Youth team: Mirella Uehara, Carmen Rosa Rojas, Milagros Alcántara, Kathy Mory; and the MIT Youth team: Deyna T., José Manuel P., Pepe H., Cathe  M., Fabian V.
