On Sunday 29 October, with the Eucharist presided by Pope Francis in St. Peter's Basilica, the first session of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme “For a Synodal Church: communion, participation and mission” concluded.
On Saturday 28 October 2023, the members of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops approved the Synthesis Report, the fruit of the work of the sessions in which 464 people participated. 365 are members themselves, as bishops, but for the first time 54 women with voting rights, 20 delegates from the Eastern Churches and two Chinese bishops appointed by the Pope were invited.
